The 12th Annual Meeting of the Society for Personality and Social Psychology
The 12th annual SPSP meeting will be held January 27-29, 2011, in sunny San Antonio, Texas, right along the urban oasis of San Antonio’s Riverwalk. Since SPSP’s last visit to San Antonio, both the meeting and the Riverwalk have grown quite a bit! For example, the Riverwalk recently opened the “museum reach” extension, over a mile of new walking connections to both the San Antonio Museum of Art and the Pearl Brewery fine dining district, which includes many new restaurants ranging from the Locavore Farm to Table Café to fresh seafood at the Sandbar Fish House.
As usual, meeting activities will open on Thursday afternoon with the Presidential Symposium, followed by a Welcome Reception. On Friday and Saturday the program will continue with a host of symposia, poster sessions, invited addresses, publisher exhibits, and special events. Andrew Elliot and Wendy Berry Mendes are this year’s program co-chairs, and they are putting together a truly spectacular program – including a plenary session on Friday with best selling science author Malcolm Gladwell! As in past years, a number of independent preconferences will be held during the day on Thursday, January 27.
As in past years, the cost of lunches are included in the registration fee, allowing us to picnic along the Riverwalk or while perusing posters. San Antonio’s warm weather (San Antonio boasts over 300 days of sunshine per year, and January temperatures in the 60s), along with the many art, entertainment, and dining options along the Riverwalk also mean there will be a host of options for all to enjoy – even beyond the meeting.
The Meeting Committee is looking forward to this year’s meeting and we hope to see you there.
